Destro-Roma deal confirmed

“Yes, Roma have reached an agreement with Mattia Destro,” revealed Siena director of sport Stefano Antonelli.

There are reports the striker – who was co-owned between Siena and Genoa – has already put pen to paper on a contract worth €1.5m per season plus bonuses.

“Yes, Roma have reached an agreement with Destro. I can confirm that is true,” Antonelli told VoceGiallorossa.

“Over the next few hours we will have to finalise the last details, because it was a rather complex negotiation process, but the deal has been struck.

“We are working on Valerio Verre coming to Siena as part of the transfer.”

Verre is an 18-year-old central midfielder from the Roma youth academy.

It is reported by Sky Sport Italia that Destro has signed a five-year contract and moved on loan with the mandatory buy-out clause of €7m.

Verre and fellow youth team player Giammario Piscitella will be included in the move in co-ownership deals, but the former will go to Siena and the latter to Genoa.

There had been fears the Destro deal would collapse completely over the weekend, as he had initially rejected the personal terms offered by Roma and was considering a higher wage package from Juventus.

However, Destro left the Siena training camp for a crunch meeting with Giallorossi directors this afternoon.
