New Sampdoria boss Ciro Ferrara is looking forward to the challenge of facing Milan in Week 1 of the new Serie A season.
The fixtures were finally drawn up on Thursday evening and the port club will face a daunting trip to the Stadio Meazza.
“It will be a fascinating challenge, no doubt about that,” Ferrara, who replaced Beppe Iachini at Doria this month, told the club’s website.
“I have faced countless battles on that field of play at San Siro. That ground brings back many memories, some good, some bad,” added the former Napoli and Juventus stopper.
“We’ll look to be ready for this appointment and we’ll go to Milan to impress, without forgetting that we are a newly promoted side.
“If anything, the game will be of use because it will immediately tell us what playing in Serie A is all about.”
