Massimiliano Allegri saw his Milan side close their pre-season tour of America with a heavy defeat to Real Madrid, prompting a warning.
The Rossoneri were hit for five by a Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricky Kaka-inspired Real in New York’s Yankee Stadium last night and Allegri suggested that it serve as a lesson to his players to maintain concentration or suffer the consequences.
“We close the US tour with a heavy defeat, but with the knowledge that we have worked well for the future,” reflected the tactician to reporters after the game.
“Real are a well-oiled squad with lots of quality, but this beating should help us understand to play every game in the right manner. We must emerge with the desire to do well.
“We did pretty well in the first half, when we managed to create something more than in the second period.
“But, you must have concentration and desire, because when you don’t you risk taking on board a thrashing like this.”
