But Flamengo, Adriano’s boyhood club, could rescue him with a pay-as-you-play contract.

GloboSport report that Dorival Junior, Flamengo’s Coach, has said: “There is space for Adriano if he is willing to help and serve us.

“Firstly Adriano will have to agree a deal with the directors and then respect it.”

Flamengo President Patricia Amorim added: “Things are moving well.”

Regarding the player’s recovery from ankle surgery, she continued: “Should he recovery satisfactorily the decision of whether to sign him will be taken when he has returned to his full condition.”

The President claimed that Adriano, whose off-pitch troubles overwhelmed his talent during a Serie A career most prevalent at Inter and Parma, could return due to the “love that the fans have for the player.”
