Former Inter, Fiorentina and Parma troubled star Adriano could be offered a route back into football by Brazilian club Flamengo.
The 30-year-old has been a free agent since March when it became clear that his personal problems were too serious for him to continue playing for Corinthians.
But Flamengo, Adriano’s boyhood club, could rescue him with a pay-as-you-play contract.
GloboSport report that Dorival Junior, Flamengo’s Coach, has said: “There is space for Adriano if he is willing to help and serve us.
“Firstly Adriano will have to agree a deal with the directors and then respect it.”
Flamengo President Patricia Amorim added: “Things are moving well.”
Regarding the player’s recovery from ankle surgery, she continued: “Should he recovery satisfactorily the decision of whether to sign him will be taken when he has returned to his full condition.”
The President claimed that Adriano, whose off-pitch troubles overwhelmed his talent during a Serie A career most prevalent at Inter and Parma, could return due to the “love that the fans have for the player.”
