Corini backs Palermo & Sannino

Former Palermo midfielder Eugenio Corini is certain the Rosanero will get their first win of the season against Cagliari tomorrow.

Despite the arrival of Coach Giuseppe Sannino and promising signings such as Paulo Dybala the Sicilians have endured a torrid start to the campaign, losing 3-0 to Napoli and Lazio.

But Corini, who spent five years at the Renzo Barbera as a player, believes Palermo will prevail in the Derby delle Isole tomorrow teatime, and go on to enjoy a successful year under Sannino.

“The boys tomorrow have an important opportunity to recover,” the former Chievo playmaker told Itasportspress.it.

“Cagliari is a strong opponent but at the Barbera Palermo will make a great game. Sannino has great skills and the experience to overturn this delicate situation.

“You have to contextualise this period, because only two games have been played, and though Palermo have lost them, that can happen to a new team.”

“Sannino just needs time to to do technical work and transmit his beliefs to the team.”

Corini is a Coach himself nowadays, spending last season in charge of Lega Pro outfit Frosinone, but is without work at present.

“I see a lot of games, and am waiting for the next opportunity. I think I did well last season in Frosinone,” the 42-year-old concluded.
