Tommasi slams Zamparini

Players’ Association President Damiano Tommasi has criticised Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini for wielding the axe again.

On Sunday the patron fired Giuseppe Sannino to bring in Gian Piero Gasperini after just three games in charge.

“I think it’s difficult to move forward with a real project when the Coach is forced to leave after a few matches,” said AIC President Tommasi.

“I believe the squad at Palermo’s disposal is a valid one for Serie A and their ambitions.

“Juventus are the favourites for the Scudetto, but I think Inter, Napoli and Milan are also in the running.

“I see Roma and Lazio a step below, but Lazio are certainly the surprise package of the season so far, both in terms of results and performances.

“I’m happy to see Zdenek Zeman back at Roma, who were my team for so many years. He runs into controversy because he always falls for the media trap questions.

“Udinese are paying the price for their Champions League play-off experience, which took a lot out of them.”
