Walter Mazzarri will not let the defeat to PSV hit Napoli’s confidence ready to face Udinese. “We can get a result against anyone.”
The Partenopei were hammered 3-0 in Eindhoven for the Europa League on Thursday, as squad rotation seemed to fail.
“If my players are angry and sad after a defeat, it means I have a great squad,” insisted the Coach.
“These games are also useful to know who you can count on among those who don’t play as much. Giandomenico Mesto showed he was reliable.
“I want to tell the fans that they should not exaggerate by focusing on a single game. When you have so many competitions and a limited squad, choices have to be made and there can be hiccups.
“With our style of football and organisation, we can get a result against anyone,” insisted Mazzarri. “That is what we must remember. We have to put in performances above and beyond our level.”
Udinese come to the San Paolo just days after shocking Liverpool with a 3-2 victory at Anfield Road.
“All teams who play 3-5-2 cause us problems, especially Udinese and Francesco Guidolin who are masters of this system. We are forced to always go for the win and keep our heads held high.
“I was certain Udinese would come here fired up, which would’ve happened even without their victory at Liverpool.
“I saw my team eager to get back on the field, as their first real defeat of the season burned them a great deal. Tonight I feel more relaxed than ever.”
Miguel Angel Britos is injured and Paolo Cannavaro suspended, so Mazzarri confirmed either Salvatore Aronica or Federico Fernandez will start in defence.
