It is only a matter of time before Andrea Consigli becomes a regular in the Giro Azzurro, says Atalanta teammate Guglielmo Stendardo.
The goalkeeper is having an impressive campaign and was selected for the first time by Italy boss Cesare Prandelli for the August friendly defeat to England – although he didn’t feature.
However, he hasn’t been picked since as Prandelli has kept faith with Gigi Buffon of Juventus, Napoli’s Morgan De Sanctis, PSG’s Salvatore Sirigu and Emiliano Viviano of Fiorentina.
“He’s worth a place in the national squad based on what he is showing,” the defender told the Eco di Bergamo.
“At times, there are those who get the maximum with the least amount of effort and those who have to give the maximum to get the minimum.
“Andrea just has to continue on this path and, eventually, the evidence won’t be ignored…”
