Siena boss Beppe Iachini is convinced that his side can avoid relegation this season – despite the six-point penalty inflicted on them.
The Tuscan minnows are now just two points away from the safety zone after a crucial 2-1 win at Palermo on Sunday.
“We’ve always believed in survival,” Iachini, who replaced Serse Cosmi this term, told Radio Anch’Io Lo Sport on Monday. “Yesterday we had our say in a very difficult match.
“We don’t think about the deduction which was given to us at the start of the season. We just aim to prepare for each match in the best way possible.
“Now it is just up to us.”
Siena have won four of their last eight games in the Division, victories fuelled by the five goals of Innocent Emeghara in his seven matches.
“Innocent is a very intelligent guy who is excellent in both phases of the game,” the former Sampdoria boss added.
“He has great quality and he can get to the highest levels if he continues on this path. I think there will be a lot of talk about him in the future.”
