Delio Rossi has replied to Sampdoria outcast Enzo Maresca’s Twitter complaint. “He knows full well why he isn’t playing.”
The midfielder posted on his Twitter account that “once we have mathematically ensured safety, then I will clarify why I have hardly played in 2013.”
Coach Rossi was asked about the comment after fielding him for only two games since taking over the club.
“I don’t use the internet, I don’t have Facebook or Twitter, so I didn’t read anything,” Rossi told Secolo XIX newspaper.
“He knows full well why he isn’t playing. I give everyone a chance, including Maresca. The important thing is to be ready in the station when that train of opportunity goes by.”
The Blucerchiati are not mathematically safe from the threat of relegation, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by rivals Genoa on Sunday.
“I wanted to win the Derby, as that would’ve taken us closer to the finish line. As for my contract renewal, that is the least of my worries. We just need to bring this season home and do it quickly, because the final games are going to be tough.”
