Giaccherini: 'Brazil not unbeatable'

Emanuele Giaccherini feels regret that Italy were unable to pile the pressure on Brazil throughout. “They’re not unbeatable.”

The Juventus man scored in tonight’s 4-2 Confederations Cup defeat, which saw the Azzurri qualify for the semi-final second in Group A.

“I am happy on a personal level, though it’s a shame about the result today and we wanted to finish top. Now we’ll play against Spain or Uruguay,” Giaccherini told Sky Sport Italia.

“I don’t think Brazil are unbeatable, as if you attack them then they struggle. In the first half we focused on defending and barely created anything.

“After the break we put more pressure on them and they started to struggle. Now we have five days to recover our fitness levels and will have important players back, so we will play our game.”

Daniele De Rossi will return from suspension, while Andrea Pirlo, Ignazio Abate and Riccardo Montolivo need fitness tests.
