Paolo Cannavaro’s agent has backed down and has insisted that the defender will not leave Napoli this summer.
The representative had claimed that the Partenopei were ‘disrespecting’ his client over their reticence to offer him a new contract.
However, the agent has now backed off from that stance, admitting that Rafael Benitez is within his rights to play the centre-back whenever and wherever.
“Cannavaro will not change his jersey,” Enrico Fedele told Radio Crc. “I don’t think Napoli want to let him go.
“The Coach is right to make his own choices though. The field is his to do whatever he wants.
“But [President Aurelio] De Laurentiis is a man of his word and has said that Paolo is an important player.”
