“It’s not a game like any other for me, seeing as I played with the Viola,” he told Inter Channel.
The 26-year-old Serbia international called the Stadio Artemio Franchi home from January 2007 to August 2009, when he moved on to VfB Stuttgart, scoring four goals in 93 appearances.
“It is always wonderful to come back to Florence, even if my last game here didn’t go well. We want to do everything possible to win and that way we can reduce the gap from the Tuscans in the table.
“Fiorentina are an excellent side who pass the ball around a lot in midfield, while Juan Cuadrado scores so much and we’ve got to be wary of him too.
“They have strong players, but so do we. I believe in our squad and we will go to Florence in order to win, because we need the three points.
“Seeing as the Viola are very quick on the counter-attack, I’ll be required to close down the spaces.”
