Jose Mourinho’s men took an early lead in Istanbul with Fernando Torres turning in a Cesar Azpilicueta assist.
Galatasaray hit the woodwork in the second half with Selcuk Inan and did eventually equalise when Aurelienne Chedjou met a Wesley Sneijder corner.
