Gigi Buffon admits Fiorentina “make life difficult” for Juventus, but they both have a lot to lose tomorrow.
The first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie ended 1-1 and the decider is at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday at 18.00 GMT.
“Do we have more to lose or do they? I think everyone has plenty to lose, so neither particularly more than any other,” said the goalkeeper in his Press conference.
“We each have to look at our own situation and try to go forward in this competition.”
Fiorentina are the only side to have beaten the Bianconeri in Serie A this season, so are they a particular problem for them?
“I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but tomorrow will certainly be another chance to test that theory.
“We cannot hide the fact Fiorentina have some great players of international level, so they can make life difficult for us.
“They also have a very talented Coach in Vincenzo Montella. As a goalkeeper, I have to keep a particular eye out for Mario Gomez and Alessandro Matri among their players.”
Buffon parried a penalty in Juve’s 1-0 win over Genoa at the weekend and laughed off his poor reputation with spot-kicks.
“People didn’t check in the record books and look over the actual statistics. When they bothered to do that, they realised it was an unfair assumption.
“The same goes for the claim Juventus are poor in Europe. Labels are easy to apply and there is always the opportunity to change people’s minds.”
