Diego Simeone is confident “the second leg will be much more open” after Atletico Madrid’s 0-0 with Chelsea.
The Champions League semi-final is perfectly balanced following the stalemate at the Vicente Calderon and the decider is at Stamford Bridge on April 30.
“It was a game between two teams who allowed little to the other side, as often happens in a semi-final,” Coach Simeone told Sky Sport Italia.
“This match ended in a draw, we’ll see after the second leg for who this 0-0 result was to be considered good.
“I don’t think it will be the same type of game, as the second leg will be much more open and Chelsea have the advantage of playing on home turf. They always do well there, but we are going to Stamford Bridge in order to show what we can do.”
Ex-Catania boss Simeone was asked about his team selection in tonight’s encounter.
“I can choose, that is what they pay me for, and I chose Diego rather than David Villa so that he could take men on in the central zone and find Diego Costa.”
Gabi picked up a yellow card and will be suspended for the second leg, along with Chelsea's John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard.
