Spalletti turns down Milan

Luciano Spalletti’s apparent talks with Milan have now reportedly broken down over wage demands.

The Gazzetta dello Sport had led with rumours this week and last that the Rossoneri were talking to the 55-year-old with a view to him coming in to replace Clarence Seedorf in the summer.

Whilst these reports listed apparent talks between Spalletti and Adriano Galliani over the weekend even, the Corriere della Sera today suggest that negotiations have now broken down.

It is believed that Spalletti is pushing for a €4.5m salary and for three members of his backroom staff to come in on combined salaries of around €1m.

With these figures described as ‘unsustainable’ for Milan, talks have apparently come to a halt, although it is not clear if this is a definitive end to the supposed negotiations or not.

Il Diavolo also face another barrier to hiring the former Roma Coach, in that Zenit St Petersburg have yet to negotiate with Spalletti the cancellation of his contract with them, since being fired in March.
