Belgium manager Marc Wilmots was able to declare ‘Mission Accomplished’ after a “very tactical” match against Russia.
The Red Devils booked their spot in the Last 16 of the World Cup thanks to a 1-0 victory, sealed late on by 19-year-old substitute Divock Origi.
“Mission Accomplished, but it was really tough,” confessed Wilmots.
“It was a very tactical encounter and the substitutions made the difference. It was a difficult test, but we deserved the points.
“Origi is only 19 years old and he was fantastic to get that goal.”
Belgium beat Algeria 2-1 and Russia 1-0, but all their goals were scored by substitutes.
