An ‘abnormal heart rhythm’ has sidelined Barcelona full-back and reputed Roma target Adriano for four to six weeks.
The Brazilian was the subject of increased speculation over interest from the Giallorossi in recent weeks, with it believed he was open to a move out to last season’s Serie A runners-up, only for Barca boss Luis Enrique to push that he remain.
On from Roma picking up Ashley Cole and Urby Emanuelson, links with Adriano now look certain to end amid Barcelona reporting that Adriano has been sidelined for the next four to six weeks.
The Blaugrana have confirmed through a statement on their website that routine check-ups at the start of pre-season highlighted ‘an abnormal heart rhythm’ for the 29-year-old and that to treat it he will now undergo an ‘electrophysiological study’.
The club stress that during this period the player will still ‘undergo physical training’, but that this will be on a separate programme to his teammates.
