Demetrio Albertini has offered to pull out of the FIGC Presidential election if Carlo Tavecchio does the same.

The election is due on Monday, but nine Serie A clubs including Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”6″>Fiorentina, Juventus” data-scaytid=”7″>Juventus, Roma and Torino signed an open letter urging both men to pull their candidacy.

“I don’t see why I should take a step back, but if in the interests of football Tavecchio – whose comments provoked a clear fracture in the calcio world – revoked his candidacy, then I’d be ready to do the same with the sole intention of uniting our world that urgently needs reforms and dialogue,” wrote Albertini.

“If, however, Tavecchio decided to continue his path towards the election, it would mean his objective is exclusively to fulfil the interests of a part of the football world.

“In case this does happen, I ask all those who always wished for a united option to support me at the voting booth.

“It is important to point out Tavecchio has always said he is everyone’s candidate, but that’s no longer the case and with his attitude he is provoking further divisions.

“Let’s say NO to football without fans, Coaches, players and important clubs.”

The nine clubs who called for both candidates to step down are Cagliari, Cesena, Empoli, Fiorentina, Juventus, Roma, Sampdoria, Sassuolo and Torino.
