Miroslav Klose has confirmed his retirement from international football, ending a 13-year spell with Germany.
The Lazio striker netted a record 71 times for Die Mannschaft in 137 appearances, winning the World Cup this summer.
The 36-year-old broke the record for most goals scored at the tournament with 16 and is also the only player to have played in four or more World Cup semi-finals.
The veteran said in a statement: “The win in Brazil was a childhood dream and I am proud and happy to have helped make it happen.
“It was the best thing to close my international experience [at this point].”
