Alessandro Florenzi insists he got a touch on “something” during the CSKA Moscow own goal in Roma’s 5-1 win.

The midfielder came off the bench for the injured Juan Manuel Iturbe and contributed to the fifth goal, though it was awarded as an Ignashevich own goal.

“I touched something during that move for the goal. We’ll see who it gets assigned to,” Florenzi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We had to get off to a strong start tonight, that is what we did and we are happy.”

However, replays show the ball was clearly nodded into his own net by Ignashevich.

Teammate Radja Nainggolan even mocked Florenzi on Twitter by sarcastically repeating his claim that the goal was his, followed by “come off it!”

Florenzi was asked whether he wanted to impress Italy Coach Antonio Conte in the stands of the Stadio Olimpico.

“When I am on the pitch, I really don’t think about what’s happening off it.”
