Matias Silvestre is keen to make his stay at Sampdoria permanent, whilst he is already counting down to a first Derby della Lanterna of his career.

The centre-back has endured a nomadic career of late, with spells at Inter and Milan proving unfruitful, whilst he joined the Blucerchiati on a season-long loan in July as a direct replacement for Valencia-bound Shkodran Mustafi.

The 29-year-old has wasted little time in settling into his new surroundings, so much so that he is already planning life at the Marassi beyond the end of his temporary arrangement.

“It's too early to talk about my future,” Silvestre has told the Corriere Mercantile today.

“But Sampdoria wanted me very much, and my first impression of them was very positive, so I think there are grounds for us to move forward together.”

Sampdoria have matches against Sassuolo and Chievo before next week’s inter-city clash with Genoa, which Silvestre is already anticipating.

“We will play the derby to the fullest. I’ve quickly realised the importance of this game.”
