Alessandro Florenzi said Roma “basically deserved” to drop two points at CSKA Moscow after going too deep.

The Giallorossi were in front with Francesco Totti’s free kick, but Vasili Berezutski scored in the final minute for a 1-1 result.

“It’s a huge blow for us, but we basically deserved it, as we were a different Roma in the second half and sat too deep. We were unable to keep the ball and got stretched out,” Florenzi told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s disappointing, as to concede a goal 15 seconds from the end is really painful. We should’ve maintained the performance and attitude of the first half, as then it would’ve ended 2-0 or 3-0.”

Florenzi had to play as a right-back due to an injury crisis that ruled out Leandro Castan, Douglas Maicon, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Vasilis Torosidis.

“I just try to give my best for the team and what the Coach asks of me. It had gone well tonight until the end.”

Roma still have a good chance of qualifying and their final game is at home with Manchester City. Can they do it?

“The first half Roma can beat Manchester City, yes.”
