New Serbia Coach Radovan Curcic declared he wants Inter defender Nemanja Vidic back on international duty.

New Serbia Coach Radovan Curcic declared he wants Inter defender Nemanja Vidic back on international duty.

The centre-back retired from international football in October 2011, complaining that “the main reason for this decision is that for a long time the media, and therefore the public, have criticised my attitude towards the national team.”

Now Serbia Coach Curcic has taken over and urged Vidic to reconsider.

“Talking about Vidic’s qualities would be superfluous. He consistently proved over the years that he is one of the best defenders in Europe.

“We want him to come back to the national team, but there is still time before our next game. We will discuss it with several players to understand their intentions.”

Vidic needs a morale-booster, as his form has been poor since joining Inter and new boss Roberto Mancini dropped him for the Milan derby.
