Lazio Coach Stefano Pioli has thanked tomorrow’s opponents Chievo for giving him a leg-up in his career, but wants to take three points back to Rome.

The Aquile boss was on the bench at Chievo in the 2010-11 season, steering the Bentegodi side to 11th in the table, and will return to Verona tomorrow with his Lazio side.

“I have positive memories [of Chievo],” Pioli told journalists in his Press conference ahead of the match.

“They’re the club that believed in me, and gave me the chance to Coach in Serie A.

“It’s a very attentive club, who will support a Coach who has well-defined ideas. Tomorrow I expect Chievo to play in a certain way.

“With the new Coach they’re more compact, with more presence in the middle of the park. We won’t find much space, and Chievo will be raring to go from the first whistle.

“We have to try for the three points, but Chievo are certainly not a team you could accuse of lacking heart.

“They’re coming off the back of three good results [a win and two draws], but we have to improve our league position.

“We have to play as a team, and make sure we’re in the game for 95 minutes, taking advantage of any mistakes.

“We have to bring home three points.

“It doesn’t take a genius or a great magician to motivate the team tomorrow. We’re coming into this off two losses, we have to react.”
