There are reports that Cagliari have offered Walter Zenga an 18-month contract to take over as Coach, following the sacking of Zdenek Zeman.

The Isolani announced this morning that Zeman had been relieved of his duties as Coach at Sant’Elia, and former Inter goalkeeper Zenga has been linked with the position.

Now Sport Mediaset reports that the 54-year-old has been offered an 18-month contract to take over, with a potential deal expiring on June 30, 2016.

Zenga has previously stated that he would consider the job, but should he reject the club’s offer, Gianfranco Zola could be ready to step in.

Zola is a former Cagliari player, and has managerial experience from his time in England, having taken charge of both West Ham United and Watford.

The former Chelsea player was born in Sardinia, and ended his career with the Isolani, having spent two years with the club between 2003 and 2005.

The likes of Davide Ballardini, Delio Rossi and Edy Reja are also thought to be in the frame, but Mediaset believes such Coaches are very much second choice, as the club views Zola and Zenga as appointments that would galvanise fans.
