Feyenoord Coach Fred Rutten believes his men have “a very good chance” of qualifying after a 1-1 draw at Roma.

First of all, the tactician was asked about the disgraceful scenes before the game, which saw Dutch fans damage historic monuments in the city centre, 16 out of 24 buses used by supporters and engage in pitched battles with police.

“I am not aware of the details of what happened and therefore abstain from making comments,” Rutten told news agency ANSA.

“I am concentrated on the match, as that is what I am responsible for. There are other people who will take responsibility for the rest.

“We played well against a team that came into this tournament from the Champions League, so 1-1 is an excellent result and I compliment my players.

“I hope that in the second leg we can repeat this performance. After the equaliser we were well set out. Roma really felt the blow of that goal and we went close to scoring another, but the draw is fine.”

Feyenoord will be without Luke Wilkshere and Immers for the second leg in Rotterdam.

“Anyone who knows me will be aware I’m not interested in the players who are not available, but only those who are. If we play the same way next week, we’ve got a very good chance of qualifying.”
