The Egyptian winger arrived from Chelsea as part of the Juan Cuadrado deal and made an extraordinary impact, scoring six goals in seven games.

“The people are fantastic here,” Salah told Sport Mediaset. “Every day I can feel their affection in the street, they are all in love with Fiorentina and thank me for the goals.

“I spend my free time at home, as I am very reserved, but every now and then I have a walk round the city centre.

“I tell the Fiorentina fans that we will fight to the end for our objectives, because we want to win.

“Everyone wants to get into the Champions League and it’ll be a fight to the last game, but we’ll do everything to achieve this objective.

“It was wonderful to score against Tottenham in the Europa League, but getting the decisive goal against Inter was exceptional.

“That was a fundamental victory that allowed us to close on third place. That is what we want, to climb the table, leapfrog Napoli and secure a Champions League spot.
“We promise the fans that we will fight hard for this.”
