Mirko Valdifiori holds back at the last moment from signing with Napoli over contract disagreements, say reports.

The 29-year-old was believed to have an agreement already in place with the Partenopei for a four-year deal at €800,000 per year.

The club and the player seemed inches from a happy wedlock, but a clause in Valdifiori's draft of a contract is clamping the operation down.

The club and the player seemed inches from a happy wedlock, but a clause in Valdifiori's draft of a contract is clamping the operation down.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli's clause would allow the club to sell the player to any other club of its choice after two years, regardless of the player's preference.

The clause is an object of contention and Valdifiori's agent is working to have it removed.

In spite of this, La Gazzetta believes these holdbacks won't be enough to break the €5.5m deal already in place to bring Valdifiori to Napoli.
