The 18-year-old only just joined the first team and has very little Bundesliga experience, but the Nerazzurri are reportedly willing to invest in him.
According to his agent Nils Schmaeler, the transfer is already at a very advanced stage, in spite of Schalke's reluctance.
“Thilo is absolutely a free agent,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The clauses to extend a contract beyond three years are not valid for a minor, as confirmed by FIFA.
“And Thilo never signed that. On the contrary, he told Schalke in writing that he is free.
“We challenge the German club to say how much money he was asking for to stay.
“That's the only way we'll get a sense of how ridiculous they are.
“He chose Inter, there's a signed deal, and the Nerazzurri will behave correctly.”
