The Serie B season finally kicks off tonight with Cesena-Brescia, but Ascoli v Virtus Entella is postponed.

The 2015-16 campaign had been due to start last week, but was put back due to the legal wrangling and confusion over who was even in the Division.

Parma lost their spot after going bankrupt, then Catania and Teramo (who would’ve been promoted from Lega Pro) were demoted in a match-fixing scandal.

Parma lost their spot after going bankrupt, then Catania and Teramo (who would’ve been promoted from Lega Pro) were demoted in a match-fixing scandal.

Only over the last few days was it finally confirmed that Ascoli and Virtus Entella would be part of the Serie B tournament.

Before then, the calendar had been drawn up with X and Y standing in for the two clubs.

The opening weekend has those two sides facing each other, so that game is postponed in order to help Ascoli and Entella prepare for the campaign.

Cesena and Brescia go head-to-head tonight in the opening match of the season.

Cagliari v Crotone is on Monday evening, while the other fixtures are all on Sunday.
