Marco Giampaolo hailed an “important victory” over Genoa and Empoli’s smart work on the transfer market.

The Tuscans notched up a second consecutive home win, the 2-0 sealed by debut Serie A goals for Rade Krunic and Piotr Zielinski.

“It’s an important victory to keep us towards the middle of the table and our 10 points allow us to work without feeling the water levels rising around us,” said the Coach.

“The club did well to choose these young players, as they are all functional for my way of playing football. Krunic, Zielinski, Leandro Paredes, Assane Diousse and Marcel Buchel are all very talented. The club was wise and has clear ideas.

“We decided to build the team around a quality midfield and the idea of going forward. We do take some calculated risks at the back.”
