Roma director Mauro Baldissoni thanked Rudi Garcia and welcomed Luciano Spalletti. “Our plans have not changed.”

The decision to sack Garcia was made this week, bringing Spalletti back after his last stint here ended in 2009.

“The change of Coach is always the sign that something is not working, but at the same time is a solution that allows for enthusiasm and the knowledge we can do better,” said director general Baldissoni at the presentation Press conference.

“Roma’s plans have not changed. We will try to improve every day to be competitive at a high level.

“Allow me to thank Garcia for the levels he took Roma to and his passion, which without doubt will also be shown by the new Coach of Roma.

“I don’t have to tell you what Spalletti did at Roma. Cagnucci wrote a book about the 100 games that made Roma history and seven of them were with Spalletti on the bench.

“I hope that number can grow and with that welcome Spalletti.”
