Inter director Piero Ausilio confirms Fredy Guarin “is in negotiations” with Jiangsu Suning, but “it’s not easy” for Roberto Soriano.

The transfer guru spoke ahead of tonight’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Napoli and it was noted Guarin isn’t even on the bench.

“He is still an Inter player,” Ausilio told Rai Sport. “There’s no point hiding, we are in negotiations, but until the documents are signed we cannot talk about a done deal. We’ll see where all these negotiations take us.

“If Guarin did leave, he’d be replaced in the squad, but we’ll make those evaluations later on.”

It has been widely reported the main target is Sampdoria’s Italy international Soriano.

“We are active on the market and evaluating situations. For Soriano we’d need to negotiate with Massimo Ferrero and it’s not easy, so I have to consider other solutions too.”

This evening Inter run out at the Stadio San Paolo for the Coppa Italia quarter-final.

“We consider the Coppa Italia an important tournament, especially this year when we are not in Europe, so we want to do well.

“Our draw with Atalanta at the weekend came after a victory and an undeserved defeat to Sassuolo.”

Ausilio was also asked about rumours Roberto Mancini is the favourite to replace Antonio Conte on the Italy bench next season.

“We’d be surprised, but he is so talented that we’re sure other top clubs as well as national teams are interested in him. He is an Inter Coach and we’re holding on tight.”
