Diego Perotti “fit right in” at Roma and got his first goal, but admits Sampdoria scared the Giallorossi.

He secured a 2-1 victory at the Olimpico, though the crossbar rescued the points deep into stoppages.

“When someone just arrives and they put you in immediately it really boosts your confidence. I was given a great welcome and I fit right into the team,” Perotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“When someone just arrives and they put you in immediately it really boosts your confidence. I was given a great welcome and I fit right into the team,” Perotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“Samp closed up in the first half, so I could create more problems for them by moving my position around.

“We thought at 2-0 it was over, Samp got that goal with a bit of luck and poured forward at the end. We were a little tired after using up so much energy against Sassuolo midweek.”

Now the race for third is wide open, as Fiorentina have 46 points, Inter 45 and Roma 44.

“We have closed up on the other teams, we are in good shape, but I think we can do even better.”
