The sporting director became the most unpopular figure within the Giallorossi environment after former Coach Rudi Garcia, as he was believed to be directly responsible in Roma's second consecutive year of crisis.

Sabatini has been linked to a possible departure from the Capitoline club at the end of the season, but the prospect doesn't seem to concern the President.

“Why should I be worried?” he told Il Tempo. “If Walter wants to leave, we have a structure capable of dealing with the situation. We always work by planning around possible developments.

“Director Mauro Baldissoni is due to depart? Whatever are you talking about?

“And about the Caa group leaving the project of the new stadium, I was the one who let them go. We preferred to create an internal team of our own to deal with their responsibilities.”

In the meantime, Radio Radio reports in Rome that Sabatini has some unspecified 'personal' reasons to leave the club at the end of the season, over and beyond the matter of his disagreement with other club officials and with the tifosi.
