Milan midfielder Andrea Bertolacci is disappointed by Milan's 'step back' after losing 2-0 to Sassuolo.
On from Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic's embittered comments, the 25-year-old voiced his own regrets at the end of the game.
“We should have scored in the first 25 minutes, but we lacked cynicism and we faded away,” he told Milan Channel. “Things got more difficult after [Alfred] Duncan's goal. They kept winning the rebounds.
“Then [Nicola] Sansone's goal closed the game. We knew the match against Sassuolo was important to climb towards third place, but unfortunately we took a step back.
“You can always improve from your mistakes, so we must try to figure out what didn't work. And we mustn't forget the good things we did too.
“Still, the championship is long, so let's look ahead."
