The Nerazzurri and the Giallorossi confront each other at the Olimpico on Sunday evening at 19:45. Many are skeptical that the visiting team can make good the five-point difference in the standings before the end of the season, but the former Sampdoria poacher disagrees.

“Samuel told me of the year when Inter won the triplete, and he said that if they'd asked him, he'd have played as a goalkeeper,” Eder told Il Corriere dello Sport. “If he did that, why shouldn't I do the same?

“Of course I'd like to score against Roma. Goals are important for striker and I picked up a habit after notching 12 before January.

“But I'd be happy for Miranda to score if that meant Inter's victory. It's the results that shape opinions. I saw the news praising [Juventus' Mario] Mandzukic for his defensive help, but if they'd drawn against Atalanta, what would they have said?

“And if we reach third place, do you think they'll talk about my goals or about the Champions League?

“Winning would push us closer to the Giallorossi, but I don't think a draw would mean game over. We'd still have 24 points available and anything may happen.

“A defeat, of course, would make things very complicated."

Eder was asked whether the Biscione, in their current state of form, can emulate Roma's eight wins in a row.

“Why couldn't Inter win all nine games until the season's end? Did anyone believe we could make a comeback against Juventus in the Coppa Italia? When something clicks, there are no limits as long as you believe in yourself.

“We spoke a lot before the game against Juventus. [Coach Roberto] Mancini told us that they didn't dominate and that the previous result was determined by our mistakes.

“He gave us drive and pushed us to avenge ourselves. That's how we managed such an important result. It was ultimately insufficient, but it restored our confidence and helped us win against Palermo and Bologna.”
