Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti is “honoured” that the President of Suning Commerce Group flew in for talks and is in the stands against Udinese.

The Serie A match kicks off at San Siro at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT), follow the action on our LIVEBLOG.

“The fact that such an important delegation arrived from a country like China is an honour for us,” Zanetti told Mediaset Premium.

“They wanted to come here and see first half the reality of Italian football and the Inter family. I think there are the right circumstances to continue this club’s growth.

“Is the sale of shares imminent? I don’t know, it is premature to talk about that. There is the opening to start talking, then Erick Thohir and Massimo Moratti will make their evaluations.

“What counts is that everything done is for the good of the club.”

Thohir and Moratti aim to sell 20 per cent of Inter to the Suning Group for around €60m, which can then be poured into the transfer market.

Coach Roberto Mancini said in yesterday’s Press conference that the team needed just “two champions” to step up a level.

“There is a solid base, as the Coach said,” continued Zanetti.

“We must evaluate what interventions to make and if there are some departures they could open the door to other possibilities.”

Zanetti was today handed a lifetime contract renewal to remain in the Inter staff.

“It was an enormous pleasure for me. I thank the club for the faith and the fans for the affection they have shown since my first day at Inter.

“I hope to continue my growth process and contribute to the success this club deserves.”
