Italian media report Walter Mazzarri has agreed terms with Premier League club Watford.

The former Inter and Napoli boss had been in talks for several days, but Sky Sport Italia and other sources are confident a deal is now done.

They are only waiting for the formal announcement, which should come from Watford FC on Saturday morning.

It brings Mazzarri to the Premier League, where he joins fellow Italian tacticians Claudio Ranieri (Leicester City), Francesco Guidolin (Swansea City) and Antonio Conte (Chelsea).

Watford are owned by the Pozzo family, who also run Udinese and Spanish side Granada.

It was announced this week that Quique Sanchez Flores would not be remaining on the bench next season.

Mazzarri is well-known for his 3-5-2 approach to football and fiery antics on the touchline, but has been out of work since he was fired by Inter in November 2014 – the first and only dismissal of his career.

The 54-year-old has been learning English, including in spells spent with a family in Manchester.

He will reunite with ex-Napoli defender Miguel Angel Britos.
