Juventus sporting director Beppe Marotta admits Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain is better than Paulo Dybala: 'He's a global icon'.

Last season's Serie A witnessed the emergence of the Azzurri as the unexpected challengers for the title, with the Old Lady having a tough time breaking them.

“The Partenopei have been our more-than-worthy rivals and for much of the championship they were ahead of us,” Marotta told Il Mattino. “We were both aiming for the Scudetto, but we all know that only one team can win it in the end.

“Still, believe me when I say that Napoli played an extraordinary championship. I imagine it's still going to be Napoli-Juventus in the future.

“[President Aurelio] De Laurentiis is reinforcing his team to become more competitive, and we're doing the same. I think the Azzurri are still going to be worthy of the Scudetto.”

Juventus have Paulo Dybala and Napoli have Gonzalo Higuain, making both the top Serie A clubs dependent on the Argentinians.

“That's probably true. It's hard to imagine Napoli without Higuain. We'll keep Dybala, obviously. It's a shame they both have to be foreigners, but champions of that kind can only be good for the prestige and the growth of our championship.

“Don't ask me which of the two is strongest because the numbers are all in favour of the Neapolitan. What El Pipita did this season is beyond words, people have run out of adjectives.

“Today he's among the strongest in the world, a global icon. Dybala is an excellent player who behaved wonderfully in his first year with us, and who must consolidate his position within the team. It's a very pleasant rivalry that we have with the Partenopei.”
