Antonio Conte and captain Gigi Buffon introduced Renzi to the squad and showed him around the training camp.

“Be good, behave yourselves and make your presence felt,” said Renzi.

“I came here to salute the Nazionale and say well done to Conte and his lads for achieving qualification early.

“It is good that sport is back to being one of the key factors in the image of our country.”

Renzi, a Fiorentina fan, spent more time with Viola winger Federico Bernardeschi.

He was then gifted two signed Azzurri shirts for him and his son Francesco, who was also in attendance.

Italy will play Finland in a friendly at Verona’s Stadio Bentegodi on Monday evening.

They then fly out to France to begin the Euro 2016 campaign.
