Roma look to replace Antonio Rudiger with Real Madrid's Nacho as the other options become more complicated.

The injury of the German international troubled all of the Giallorossi's transfer strategy. Not only are they now compelled to sell Miralem Pjanic to Juventus in order to find cash, they must also get hold of an alternative central defender, as Rudiger won't be back until November at best.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sabatini's new target is Real Madrid's Nacho, who can play as a central defender and as a full-back, and who has been used very sparingly by Coach Zinedine Zidane.

The player would cost €7-8m, and it might become mandatory to buy him as the other options being considered are becoming increasingly complicated. Lyon's Samuel Umtiti reportedly turned down Roma's offer and is waiting for a move from Barcelona, while Villareal's Musacchio is considered too expensive at €20m.

The club from the capital is also working on signing some full-backs. Sporting director Walter Sabatini got in touch with Udinese for Silvan Widmer and is believed to have agreed a deal in principle for Empoli's Mario Rui
