The tactician left Tuscany this summer after a successful campaign, but will be right back at the Stadio Castellani for the opening weekend of the season on August 20-21.

“It will be a pleasure to be back in Empoli and maybe it was destiny that this game should be scheduled for the first round,” said Giampaolo.
“I will meet up with players I worked hard with, a club that gave me the chance to make my mark in Serie A and fans who always showed me respect and affection.
“Pre-season training is going well, though we are a work in progress. I am sure we’ll be well-prepared for our Serie A debut.”
