New Italy Coach Giampiero Ventura will begin his tenure on August 28 ahead of games with France and Israel.

The tactician takes over from Antonio Conte after the Euro 2016 campaign and has already been visiting several Serie A clubs this summer.

The FIGC announced his tenure will formally start on Sunday August 28 with a get-together at the Coverciano training ground.

His first squad will be named the previous evening and the opening training session is on Monday August 29.

Ventura will make his debut on the bench in a prestigious friendly against Euro 2016 Finalists France at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari on September 1.

Italy can then begin their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign against Israel on September 5 in Tel Aviv.
