According to Sky Sport Italia, Gabriel Barbosa – commonly known as Gabigol – has flown back to Brazil after passing his medical and discussing personal terms.

It remains to be seen whether he’ll join Inter now or remain at Santos until January 2017, but the Brazilian club said it is up to him.

“Gabigol has always respected his professional obligations,” Santos President Modesto Roma told UOL Esporte.

“He wants to become champion of Brazil with Santos, but must also look at his personal career. He is leaving via the front door, like an important player for the history of the club.

“His sale is the biggest in the history of the Peixe. We will talk to him about the possibility of remaining until December, but will respect his career.

“Santos have prepared for this moment. If he stays with us, it’ll be to the end of the year. Life, for us, goes on.”

UOL report Gabigol will play his final game for Santos on Sunday against Figueirense before flying back to Italy to complete the Inter deal for €27-29m.

As for Joao Mario, he had his medical this morning and the stage is set for his transfer to be completed from Sporting CP.

While originally the idea was to take him on loan from Sporting for €10m with obligation to buy in a year for another €35m, this seems to have changed.

It’s suggested Sporting would prefer to have the a cash sum now, so are prepared to lower the asking price to €40m.
