Cesare Prandelli is officially the new Coach of Valencia, signing a contract to June 2018.

The news was expected, as he flew in this morning and was greeted at the airport by dozens of reporters.

A former Coach of Fiorentina, Italy and Galatasaray among others, the 59-year-old will be in the stands for tomorrow’s game with Atletico Madrid.

The new boss will be presented to the media on Monday afternoon before holding his first training session with the squad.

He’ll take over with a two-year deal after the club sacked Pako Ayestaran for suffering four consecutive defeats.

Voro Gonzalez has been appointed caretaker manager and will lead the squad this weekend before Prandelli begins work on Monday.

“Valencia Club de Fútbol wish to communicate to fans that they have reached an agreement with Cesare Prandelli, with the Italian being appointed as first team coach through to June 30th, 2018. 

“Prandelli, aged 59, put pen to paper on the deal today alongside VCF Chairwoman LayHoon Chan, and will be in attendance in the presidential box at Mestalla for tomorrow's game between Valencia CF and Atletico Madrid. The new coach will be presented to the media on Monday at 12pmat Mestalla. 

“Later on Monday, Prandelli will take charge of his first training session at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna.”
