The Bianconeri recovered from a defeat to Milan by sweeping Sampdoria aside 4-1, maintaining their two-point lead at the top of the table.

“It was important to start this aggressive, as that is how Samp won the Derby,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

“I am happy that Mario Mandzukic scored, while Gonzalo Higuain had a great game and his goals will come soon enough. Everyone did well, as when Higuain was the centre-forward, Mandzukic went wide and vice versa. That’s a good sign.

“Neto also made two or three important saves. It was good to have Marchisio back. In terms of positioning and tactical intelligence, he’s very valuable to the team.

“We develop the football well when we move the ball quickly and that’s what happened today. When we slowed down the tempo, we allowed Samp back into the game.”

Dani Alves was a surprise pick in a three-man defence amid the injury crisis.

“He is so good on the ball and had a good game. He is a player who can fill that role.”

Juventus face last season’s Scudetto rivals Napoli on Saturday evening, so what form at the Bianconeri in?

“We need to improve the quality of our football. It will be an important match, but not as decisive as the meeting in the second half of the season,” concluded Allegri.”
