Belgium Coach Roberto Martinez confirmed Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan was dropped. “Radja must be patient and prove himself.”

Last week when Nainggolan did not appear in the squad list for upcoming games, Martinez had said it was because he was “not 100 per cent.”

However, now he has adjusted his comments to reflect a tactical decision.

“Nobody will be given any free rides based on the name on their back,” declared Martinez in a Press conference.

“Belgium is a very competitive national team and everyone must fight to be a part of it. Radja must be patient and prove himself better and more in form to get back into the Belgium side.

“I am happy with the players who filled that position against Bosnia and Gibraltar, so I gave them precedence.”

Nainggolan had pulled out of international duty last month, citing an injury.
